The data actually fits in quite well with the Biblical scenario:

Instant stone age (loss of culture and history) with the scattering from Babel. Ice age beginning to set in about the same time. Stone age ending in the middle east within a few generations, but lasting much longer the further one gets from the middle east. Population low during that short period.
